GOOD Based on 630 reviews fenmanCambridgeshire2025-04-16Verified Terrible food Lasagna was lukewarm warm would not recommend it. Steak and ale pie seemed to have been reheated. It was just some lumps of meat in pastry. An absolute rip off. riw94712025-03-30Verified Enjoyable Came here a few weeks ago, and whilst it wasn’t too busy we enjoyed the carvery food. Returned today with family for Mothering Sunday, lucky we had booked as it was absolutely heaving. Free deserts for all mothers was a nice touch, and no price increase just because of the day.👍 Carvery was as good as last time, except stuffing balls were like cannon balls 🙈 and meat was only lukewarm. Overall we enjoyed the lunch and would return. Joseph2025-03-15Verified Not the same as it used to be It has been a few years since going but I’ve always raved about how good it was. Was, being the operative word as this experience was not good. We called before heading there to check they did carvery still (new owners, new name). They said yes so we booked. When we arrived though we were told no carvery!! Sort of defeated the object of going. There was a roast on the menu which was ordered by two of the party. I had fish and chips. The roast - plate was reasonably sized but some suspect options added, like roasted butternut squash. The meat though was clearly reheated as was dry and tough. The gravy was thin and everything had a hint of Indian spice about it. The Fish & Chips - the batter looked like it had been waved in front of the grill as it was very aneamic. It tasted okay though and was reasonable. The bigger issue we had was with the service, we had a 10 month old with us. The server bought cutlery to the table and placed them in front of the child (quickly moved by the parents), later on they had asked for extra gravy which was brought out in a hot gravy boat which was also placed in front of the child (only clear space on the table). The added issue was then the baby changing facilities were not best placed and also dirty. All round a disappointing experience and feel let down as told we could have the meal of choice over the phone to then find out it wasn’t available. Sorry but we won’t be returning. Karen S2025-03-02Verified Very nice food We had the carvery and the meat was superb and good selection of veg and potatoes all in all it was very nice, good selection of deserts but need to get some vegan options and GF options as no vegan/gf cream or custard or ice cream available. Was also warmer than when we were last in there but we had a nice family meal 👍 Karen S2025-01-12Verified Lovely food but very cold in the rooms sadly The food was great plenty of meat very tender & hot 👍 but the rooms were very cold 🥶 our elderly mum had to keep her coat on and unfortunately as she's a slow eater her dinner went cold very quickly which put her off eating it! 🥴 and her cup of tea also went cold due to the lack of heating in the room, a shame as nice food good service but just to cold to eat in there this time of year you really need to look at central heating the whole place to improve dining little fan heaters are not really cutting the mustard sadly 😵💫 Trail422728380162024-12-10Verified Beautiful place, great food and drink. New owners only been there a month but wow they've some great ideas and the food..... Well it was amazing plus a great selection of drinks too nothing was too much trouble this place is definitely worth the visit ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Karen S2024-12-02Verified Enjoyed our carvery Been many times for family occasions X6 family members at 12.30 yesterday 1st December had the carvery, meat a little less than we used to get! but good selection of vegetables yorkshire's were fine not keen on the stuffing balls! gravy could be thicker, service was great plates cleared in good time and deserts were great, was warm and cosy and fairly busy but not as busy as we've seen it before on a Sunday. We all enjoyed our food and had empty plates thank you 😃 Julie H2024-12-01Verified Great Dog friendly pub / diner Great, this restaurant/bar is now dog friendly so we visited for a Sunday meal. Was nicely busy and drinks are ok price. We decided we wouldn't have the carvery, food was mostly cold, we had vegan wellington which felt it was ready so quickly could have been microwaved!!! Will visit again but may have a bottle of wine and tapas next time. Jude P2024-11-23Verified A meal of 2 halves We have been going to The Farmers for years with no complaints hence why it was first choice for my husbands birthday meal. Unbeknown to us The Farmers had changed management. The food ordered from the menu and coming direct from the kitchen was fine but the carvery was a different matter. Under previous ownership no matter if you were first served or the last people in of an evening the food was great. We were seated by 7pm & got to the carvery but 7.45pm, no one told us they now close at 9pm. The meat on the carvery was the meat left over, we had the beef that could have passed as rubber, one bit was so dry and the other was near on raw. The gammon was so dry it was inedible. The veg were also the dregs and what was left over hence not everyone got all the veg as it had run out. The Yorkshire pudding was dry and burnt. The beef gravy had run out and the tried to tell us that the turkey gravy was the same as the beef. The staff at the carvery were so miserable with an attitude. The ladies waiting/clearing tables were lovely. We didn’t realise it closed at 9pm as with the previous owner it closed when the last person left. The guy kept coming and checking if we were still there which made us feel very uncomfortable. All in all we will not be going back.
